"It was good to see offense come alive today, especially responding to the spurts that Stout put forward in the middle-to-late innings of both games" said head coach Pat Bloom. "It seemed like every time they put a number up on the board, our offense had an answer and I was proud to see our guys show some confidence and resilience at the plate.

"If we can find a way to throw more strikes on the mound and put up a zero when our offense does work, we'll be a much better team down the road."

Trailing 1-0 heading to the fourth, the Pointers scored runs in every inning the rest of the way including nine in the eighth to cruise to the 18-5 victory.

Justin Jirschele (Clintonville, WI/Clintonville) and Jimmy Coady (La Crosse, WI/Aquinas) finished game one with four hits while Clay Giese (Plover, WI/SPASH), Casey Barnes (Mequon, WI/Homestead), Sean Gerber (Stoughton, WI/Stoughton), Bryan Clark (Oshkosh, WI/North) and Ryan Schilter (West Bend, WI/West) each drove in two runs in the victory.

Brad Stroik (Stevens Point, WI/SPASH) threw 6.2 innings, allowing four runs on just two hits, walking two and striking out three. Ryan Iverson (Eau Claire, WI/Eau Claire North) earned the victory, recording one out in the seventh inning and Nash Bell (Oconomowoc, WI/Oconomowoc) threw the final two innings to seal the victory.

In game two, the Pointers took the lead from the start and, despite giving up 13 runs, managed to push 14 runs across to complete the weekend sweep and take three of four from the Blue Devils.

Zach Wendorf (Merrill, WI/Merrill) secured the victory, throwing 4.1 innings of three-run baseball in relief of starter JP Feyereisen (River Falls, WI/River Falls). Iverson came in to throw the final 1.1 innings and record the save.

Dan Douglas (East Troy, WI/East Troy) and Jirschele finished game two with three hits each while five Pointers tallied two hits each.
