WASHINGTON – Trailing 10-6 in the eighth inning, CUA took advantage of some wild Juniata pitching, scoring nine runs to take its first lead of the day and ultimately earning a 15-10 win.  The Cardinals swept the weekend series from the Eagles and are now above .500 in the Landmark Conference.

Juniata scored once in the first and five more times in the second to take an early 6-0 lead on CUA.

The Cardinals got on the board with a pair of runs in the second, which came on a homerun to left field by Colin McCarthy.

The Eagles came right back with two more runs in the third, but CUA again answered, this time with a single run to make it 8-3. 

Juniata continued its early scoring with two more runs in the fourth, which made it a seven-run spread, but Mike McFarland scored on a wild pitch for the Cardinals to cut it to a six-run game.

A bases loaded walk to pinch hitter Dave Grear in the fifth brought CUA one run closer and Tim Mierzwa came home on a wild pitch an inning later to cut the Juniata lead to four.

In the eighth CUA rallied to take its first lead of the afternoon, but the Cardinals registered only two hits while during so.

Marc Hanna, Matt Grieb and McCarthy each walked to begin the frame and Mark Kalokitis was hit by a pitch to make it 10-7.

Pinch hitter Brendan Breslin was next and he also got plunked, forcing in the Cardinals' eighth run.

A walk to McFarland then made it 10-9 and after pinch hitter Chris McCloud was hit, the game was knotted at 10.

Another walk, this one to Tommy Little, gave CUA its first lead of the day and after Mierzwa singled home McFarland, the Cardinals were in front by two.

A sac fly by Hanna then made it 13-10 and two batters later, McCarthy stroked a two-run single to give the Cardinals a five-run advantage.

Thomas Travaglia came on in relief for CUA in the ninth and gave up two hits, but held the lead for the Cardinals.

Chris Nee earned the win for the Cardinals after going 1.0 inning and not allowing any runs, while Kevin Farley, Colin Kelly and Travaglia also pitched.  Robin Mowatt was the starter and got pulled after 2.1 innings, after he allowed eight runs on nine hits.

Ryan Morrison started for Juniata and went 6.0 innings, while allowing four runs on five hits, before giving way to Mario DeYulius, Josh Green and Brad Medellin.  Green took the loss after allowing two runs and walking one.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they face Salisbury on the road.  First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
