DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Mark Bowman scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 11th inning and that run proved to be the difference as Arcadia University squeaked out a 6-5, non-conference road victory over Delaware Valley College.

Bowman drew a two-out walk and then moved to second on a single by Anthony Snover. With two strikes on the batter, a wild pitch allowed both runners to advance 90 feet. Another wild pitch brought home Bowman with the eventual game-winner.

In the bottom of the 11th, the Aggies (9-12) put runners on first and second with one out. However, Arcadia reliever Justin Simpson got a 4-6-3 double play to end the game and give him his first save of the season.

Arcadia (11-13) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first with RBIs by Jerry Smith (sacrifice fly), David Jacobs (ground out) and Patrick Kwiatkowski (single). Delaware Valley tied it up by scoring a run in the first and two more in the second. In the first, Matt Bodine was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded while the second stanza saw two runners cross home plate on an error by the Knights.

Arcadia regained the lead in the third on an RBI double by Smith. The Aggies took their first lead of the game in the fourth as Jeff Sennett tripled in Brandon Bell (single) and Pete O'Hara (double). The Knights tied it in the fifth as Jacobs drew a bases-loaded walk.

The pitchers took over from there as neither team could hit the scoreboard until the top of the 11th. Delaware Valley had the winning run on third in the 10th inning, but a pop out ended that threat. Snover pitched the 10th, one of six hurlers used by Arcadia, and he picked up the win. Tyler Frounfelker took the loss for the Aggies despite pitching seven strong innings of relief. He allowed the one run in the 11th and three overall hits while fanning three.

O'Hara was 3-for-6 with two runs scored for Delaware Valley while Sennett went 2-for-6 with a triple and two RBIs. Jacobs (0-for-3) and Smith (2-for-4) each knocked in two runs for Arcadia.
