Thomas More Falls, 10-1, to Saint Vincent in Series Opener

(LATROBE, Pa.) - The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 10-1, to Saint Vincent College today (Wednesday, April 4, 2012) in the opening game of a three game Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) series at Bearcat Ballfield in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 14-7 overall and 6-4 in the PAC.  With the win, the Bearcats improve to 15-7 overall and 5-5 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent scored three runs in the first, two in the second, two in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth, while it held the Saints to one run in the fifth for the 10-1 victory.

At the plate, the Saints had three players with multiple hits in the game as sophomore center fielder Cody Makin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four, sophomore third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) was two-for-three with a run scored and sophomore second baseman Tyler Graber (Plain City, Ohio/Jonathan Alder) was two-for-three.

On the mound, junior Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) suffered the loss as he pitched six innings and gave up nine runs (seven earned) on 14 hits and struck out four batters.

The two teams will close out the three game series tomorrow (Thursday, April 5) with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
