WAYNE, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University led 4-2 at the seventh-inning stretch before William Paterson University began to slug its way to victory, rallying for five runs in the bottom of the seventh and five more in the eighth as the Pioneers swept the two-day home-and-home New Jersey Athletic Conference series with a 12-4 victory over NJCU on Friday afternoon at Jeff Albies Field.

WPU (18-5, 3-1 NJAC), extends its winning streak to five and defeats NJCU (9-13, 0-4 NJAC) for the fifth straight game dating to 2010 as the schools also met on April 5 in Jersey City; the Pioneers prevailed, 7-2 in the series opener.
 
WPU outhit NJCU, 12-9 and the Knights were limited to all singles, scoring twice in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2 before claiming a 4-2 advantage in the top of the seventh.
 
In defeat, freshman shortstop MICHAEL MARTUCCI (Bayonne, NJ/Saint Peter's Prep) had his 12thmultiple-hit game of the season, batting 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run in the leadoff spot. Junior left fielder ANDREW RIVERA (Edison, NJ/Edison) added his 13th multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.
