Rams Cruise Past Lehman in Non-Conference Action

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Rams held Lehman hitless through the first eight innings as they defeated the Lightning, 26-2, in a non-conference game this evening in Farmingdale, N.Y. Farmingdale State improved to 18-9, while Lehman fell to 9-10 on the season.

The Rams were led by freshman left fielder Michael Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) who was 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs scored and 2 RBI. Senior designated hitter Danny DeVito (Plainview, N.Y.) was 2-for-3 with four runs scored, while sophomore center fielder Edward Bergmann (East Meadow, N.Y.) had two hits, a run scored and 3 RBI. Freshman shortstop Frank Gagliardi (West Islip, N.Y.) batted 2-for-3 with a run scored and a game-high 4 RBI, while senior catcher Frank Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) had two hits, 3 RBI and scored a run. Freshman second baseman Matthew Zsevc (Westbury, N.Y.) and senior third baseman Ryan McAllister (Miller Place, N.Y.) each had two hits and two runs scored for Farmingdale State.

Senior pitcher Chris Phelan (Patchogue, N.Y.) improved to 4-1 on the year after throwing five hitless innings and striking out six.

Farmingdale State next will travel to Mount Saint Mary College for a Skyline Conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 14th at noon.
