(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College baseball team defeated intrastate rival Centre College, 8-4, today (Wednesday, April 11, 2012) in a non-conference game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 17-8 and with the loss, the Colonels fall to 11-20.
Thomas More scored three in the third, two in the fourth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh and one in the eighth, while holding Centre to one in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth for the 8-4 victory.
Three Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was two-for-five with a run batted-in and two runs scored, freshman left fielder Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-four with two runs scored and senior first baseman Andrew Thole (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) was two-for-three with a double, two RBI and a run scored.
On the mound, junior Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned the win as he pitched five innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and struck out three.
Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (April 14) when it opens a three-game series with Presidents' Athletic Conference-leading Westminster College with a 1 p.m. doubleheader in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.
