SELINSGROVE, Pa. – After downing Susquehanna 6-5 in game one on Saturday, CUA had a tough time getting its bats going in game two and fell to the Crusaders 3-0 in the nightcap.  Following the day's action, the Cardinals sit at 23-13 overall and 10-5 in the Landmark Conference.

In game number-one, Susquehanna jumped on top 1-0 with a solo home run by Ethan Rieker in the second.

CUA came right back with a single run in the third to tie the game at one, though.  The Cardinals run was driven in on Tim Mierzwa's single to right field.

Mierzwa struck again in the fifth, this time singling home Tommy Little to give CUA a 2-1 advantage, but the Crusaders answered with four runs in their half of the frame to grab a 5-2 lead.

Zach Place stroked a one-out homer to left for the first run and Ken Kayama laced an RBI double to center for the second.  A Pat Jennings single then drove in Susquehanna's third run of the inning and after Dan Wing doubled in Jennings with two outs, the Cardinals found themselves down by three.

Unfazed, CUA came right back to tie things at five with a three-run sixth.  Colin McCarthy got the inning started with a single and then came around on Marc Hanna's two-run bomb to right field.

Dan Hinchcliff's one-out single to center plated Nick Scali and tied the game at five.

McCarthy then took things into his own hands with a solo shot to left in the seventh, which proved to be the game-winner.

Susquehanna did not go away quietly though, with Kayama leading the bottom of the seventh off with a single and moving down to second on a sac bunt.

Chris Nee came on in relief for the Cardinals though and struck out the next two Crusaders to seal the win.

Adam Schroth went 4.2 innings for CUA to pick up the win, while Nee earned the save after retiring the final two hitters.

Susquehanna's Spencer Hotaling suffered the loss after working 1.2 innings, and allowing one run on three hits.

In the nightcap, CUA was only able to muster three hits, including two by Brendan Breslin and one by Mark Kalokitis.

Susquehanna scored a single run in the first when Ty Raubenstine came home on an error, and the Crusaders added single runs in the fifth and sixth to earn a Saturday split.

Casey Hood went 6.0 innings, struck out two and allowed just a single hit to earn the win for the Crusaders, while Matt Smith worked the final inning to pick up the save.

Justin D'Alessandro was dealt the loss for CUA after he surrendered two earned runs on five hits in five innings.

CUA remains on the road for its next game, traveling to face Messiah on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
