DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance managed only two runs over 16 innings of Saturday's doubleheader against Anderson and suffered 2-0 and 8-2 losses against the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference-leading Ravens on Senior Day at Rutter Field.

Darin Waterman tossed a complete game for the Jackets in the opening contest, retiring seven AU batters on strikes and limiting the Ravens to two runs on five hits over seven innings.

Anderson's Greg Vogt was equally tough however, shutting out Defiance in a three-hit performance and retiring eight Yellow Jackets on strikes.

The DC bats stayed quiet in the nightcap, mustering only two runs on four hits in the nine-inning affair. Dave Riley provided the first RBI of the afternoon, with a one-out single through the right side to plate Levi Pauli and tie the game at 1-1 in the second inning.

Anderson countered with four runs in the top of the third and never looked back, adding on single tallies in the next two frames and coasting to the 8-2 victory.

Brent Kremer led the offense in the second game with two hits and a run, while Braden Brugler and Dave Riley each had one RBI.

Defiance (9-20, 2-13 HCAC) and Anderson (22-10, 14-3 HCAC) will finish the series with a single game on Sunday, beginning at 12:00 pm.
