OSWEGO, N.Y. - Plattsburgh (18-15, 9-9 SUNYAC) scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning for a 13-10 come-from-behind win over Oswego State (15-19, 6-9) at Laker Baseball Field in Oswego on Sunday. The win clinched a spot in the SUNYAC playoffs for the Cardinals, but still gives the Lakers a chance for a playoff spot as well.

The Lakers took an 8-5 lead with an inside the park home run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the five-run rally in the eighth helped Plattsburgh overcome six errors for the victory.

The back-and-forth game started with the Cardinals taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the second.

The Lakers chipped into the lead when Alex Jurczynski (Jr., Schenectady, N.Y.) singled and scored with the help of two Cardinal errors in the bottom of the second.

John Rauseo's (Fr., Mattituck, N.Y.) big offensive game included a triple to left center to lead off the bottom of the third inning. He later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at three.

The Lakers tied the game in the fourth when Jurczynski singled and moved to third when he stole second base and the ball was throw into centerfield. Brian Hamilton (Fr., Liverpool, N.Y.) drove in the run with a ground ball to the leftside of the infield.

Plattsburgh fought back with two runs in the top of the fifth before a double play helped the Lakers work out of the inning.

Oswego State came right back and tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Rauseo was hit by a pitch and Mike Stark (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) walked. Matt Miller (Sr., Montoursville, N.Y.) drove in Rauseo with a sacrifice fly to right field, while Stark scored on a two-out error to tie the game at five.

The Lakers took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth when Rauseo hit a deep shot to centerfield. The ball grazed off the glove of Plattsburgh's Pedro Gonzalez, allowing Rauseo to sprint all the way around the bases for a three-RBI, inside-the-park home run.

Down 8-5, Plattsburgh scored twice in the top of the seventh and then used a bloop double down the right field line to start a five-run rally in the eighth. The Lakers had a chance to throw a runner out at home for the second out of the inning, but an error put the Cardinals up 9-8 and the runs continued from there.

After Cardinal relief pitcher Brian Burns retired the first six batters he faced, pimch hitter Kris Prikazsky (Sr., Endicott, N.Y.) drew a walk to start the bottom of the ninth inning.

Rauseo followed with his second triple of the game, scoring pinch runner Dylan Parmenter (Jr., Bennington, Vt.). Rauseo cut the lead to 13-10 when Stark grounded out to second base for the first out of the inning.

Scott Buniak (So., Clifton Park, N.Y.) restarted the rally with a triple to right center, but the next two batters were retired to end the game.

Dan Erne (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) pitched the first seven innings with three strikeouts, while Mark Shaper (Sr., Warwick. N.Y.) took the loss after two innings of work.

Rauseo finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while Buniak and Jurczynski added two hits each.

Prior to the game, Oswego State recognized its six seniors: Brady Farkas (Clifton Park, N.Y.) David Mazzullo (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.), Matt Miller, Kris Prikazsky, Steve Roman (Middletown, N.Y.), and Mark Schaper for their contributions to the program.
