(WASHINGTON, Pa.) - The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 8-0, to Washington & Jefferson College today (Sunday, May 6, 2012) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Ross Memorial Park in Washington, Pennsylvania.
With the win, the Presidents end the regular season at 33-6 overall and 21-3 in the PAC. With the loss, the Saints end the regular season at 25-14 overall and 13-11 in the PAC.
W&J scored one run in the fifth, one in the sixth and six in the seventh and held the Saints scoreless for the 8-0 victory.
At the plate, sophomore shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) and freshman left fielder/first baseman Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) each ad a hit in the game for the Saints.
On the mound, the Saints staffed the game as junior Mike Hager (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) started and had a no decision as he pitched three shutout innnings and gave up one hit and struck out one. Sophomore Brenon Russell (Petersburg, Ky./Conner) suffered the loss as he pitched one inning of relief and gave up one run (earned) on two hits.
The Saints return to action on Thursday (May 10) when they open PAC Tournament action as the No. 3 seed and play No. 2 seed Westminster College in a first round game in Washington, Pennsylvania. Game time will be announced Monday morning by the PAC office on the conference's website at www.pacathletics.org.
