Dolce Shuts Down Keene State in Rams Victory

Farmingdale, N.Y. - Junior pitcher Michael Dolce (St. James, N.Y.) picked up his first victory of the season after throwing 6.1 scoreless innings and striking out seven in Farmingdale State's 2-1 win over Keene State this afternoon.

The Rams (2-5) broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two out RBI single up the middle by Justin Steigerwald (Holbrook, N.Y.) which scored Nick Ventricelli (Woodbury, N.Y.).

Senior right fielder Terrence Bohonan's (Patchogue, N.Y.) RBI groundout in the eighth scored Ron Remi (Massapequa, N.Y.) to give Farmingdale State a 2-0 advantage.

In the top of the ninth, freshman designated hitter Cody Dube (Windham, Maine) reached base with two outs after being hit by a pitch. In Keene State's (0-2) next at-bat, sophomore left fielder Ian Seawards (Dover, N.H.) cut the deficit in half with an RBI single to left. With bases loaded, Rams' junior pitcher Timmy Trimarchi (Hauppauge, N.Y.) forced a fly out to right field to close out the 2-1 victory in the 2013 Spring Classic.

Freshman designated hitter Dalton McCarthy (Manorville, N.Y.) was 1-for-3 at the plate with an RBI, while senior left fielder David Zilnicki (Riverhead, N.Y.) was 1-for-1 with three walks for Farmingdale State. Trimarchi earned his first save of the season after recording the final out in relief.

The Owls were led by junior second baseman Nick Vita (Spofford, N.H.) and freshman right fielder Brett Dootson (Marlborough, Conn.) who each had two hits in the game.
