(ABURNDALE, Fla.) - The Thomas More College baseball team turned three double plays on today (Thursday, March 7, 2013) as it upset No. 21 Aurora University, 7-3, on the fourth day of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida.

With the win, the Saints improve to 4-1 on the season.  With the loss, the Spartans fall to 5-1.

Thomas More took an early lead with six runs in the top of the first and added another run in the fifth, while holding Aurora to a run in the sixth, a run in the seventh and a run in the eighth.

Senior pitcher Paul Uhl (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas), making his first appearance in two years, earned the win as he pitched seven innings and gave up two runs (both earned) on six hits and struck out two.  Junior pitcher Andy Roenker (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) pitched two innings of relief and allowed one run (earned) on two hits and struck out one.

The Saints were led at the plate by senior outfielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic), who was two-for-five with a triple and two runs scored.  Sophomore outfielder Nick Connor (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was two-for-five, while freshman infielder Donovan Pogue (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier) was two-for-four, junior infielder Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) had two runs batted-in and sophomore catcher Brad Popham (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) had a three-run double.

Thomas More closes out its Florida swing tomorrow (Friday, March 8) as it plays Suffolk University at 10 a.m. on field No. 5 at the Chain of Lakes Complex in Winter Haven, Florida.
