(HANOVER, Ind.) - The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Hanover College, 7-3, today (Friday, March 15, 2013) in a non-conference game at the L.S. Ayers Complex in Hanover, Indiana.
With the win, the Saints improve to 6-1, while Panthers fall to 5-6.
Thomas More scored one in the second, five in the fourth and one in the sixth, while holding Hanover to two runs in the first and one in the ninth for the 7-3.
On the mound, senior Grant Lewis (Mason, Ohio/Mason) earned the win as he started and pitched seven innings and gave up two runs (both earned) on eight hits and struck out four. Junior Andy Roenker (Taylor Mill, Ky./Holy Cross) pitched one-third of an inning of relief and earned the save.
Three Saints had multiple hits in the game as senior shortstop David Kennett (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) was four-for-five with two runs scored and two run batted-in, senior right fielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was three-for-five with a home run, four RBI and a run scored and sophomore catcher Brad Popham (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) was two-for-two with a run scored.
Thomas More returns to the diamond tomorrow when it travels to Franklin, Indiana to play two games. The Saints will play host Franklin College at 12 p.m. and Adrian College at 3 p.m.
