THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Andrew Mulvey went the distance in game one, allowing just two runs – all unearned - in 7.0 innings to earn the City College of New York's (1-8) first victory of the season, a 11-2 win over Maritime College in game one of Sunday's doubleheader at Reinhart Field.

Mulvey (1-2) pitched to contact all game and allowed just five hits to pick up his first win of the season

Three Beavers recorded multi-hit games as Damien Hudson-Ruiz led the charge, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI to go along with a Beaver season-high four steals. Every Beaver that started game one reached base safely and CCNY was a menace on the bases, successfully swiping seven bags as the 11 runs are the most runs scored in a win under head coach Steve Macias since taking over the program two seasons ago.

Eric Quatrone went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, one double, one RBI and a stolen base while Emmanuel Nwokelo went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored. Mike Smith reached base safely three times and finished 1-for-3 with two walks, two RBI and one run scored and Jaquan Murphy scored two runs and stole two bases.

City College struck first taking a 1-0 lead in the opening frame as Quatrone reached on a single, before stealing second base with Anthony Colon at the dish. After a ground out to the right side allowed Quatrone to move to third base, Smith ripped a single to plate the senior center fielder and give CCNY a 1-0 lead.

The Privateers did not waste time and took advantage of miscues by the Beavers' defense that allowed Maritime to plated two runners in the bottom of the first.

That was all the Privateers would get off of the senior right-hander as Mulvey settled down to shut out Maritime thru the final six innings.

The top of the third saw the Beavers score three runs as Murphy led off the frame reaching on an error. After a Quatrone walk, Colon singled to load the bases with one out for Smith. A ground out by Smith allowed Murphy to score and moved both runners into scoring position for Nwokelo. The first baseman doubled down the left field line plating both runners and giving CCNY a 4-2 lead.

With one out in the fourth, Hudson-Ruiz singled to left field before successfully stealing second and third base. Murphy walked and stole second base to put runners in scoring position for the top of the order. Kennedy Tavarez's sacrifice fly allowed Hudson-Ruiz to score and moved Murphy to 90 feet away from home plate. Quatrone followed with a double down the right field line and moved to third shortly after. A passed ball allowed Quatrone to score for CCNY's third run of the inning to give the Beavers a 7-2 lead.

Alberto Franco led off the fifth with a double before advancing to third base on Matt Sola Baker's ground out. With Hudson-Ruiz at the plate, Franco came around to score on the shortstop's single to opposite field. The newcomer would steal second and third again for the second consecutive inning and the fourth overall swipe of the day.

The Beavers offense continued their onslaught, adding three insurance runs in the sixth inning on one hit and two Maritime errors.

CCNY hosts St. Joseph's Brooklyn on Tuesday, March 19 at Randall's Island Field 53.
