GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Bridgewater College Eagles rode a pair of strong starting efforts Saturday from pitchers Corey Armentrout and Robert Gallet to stay undefeated in the ODAC with a doubleheader sweep over the Guilford College Quakers. The Eagles won the first game 10-2 and took the second game 5-0.

Bridgewater won the first game behind a solid start from Armentrout and a 15-hit attack from the offense.

The Eagles used a seven-run third inning to break the game open early.

With one out in the third, Bryan Sanderson singled and took third on a two-out single by Andrew Hacker. Ryan Smith, Derrik Walling, Zach Hynes and Christian Armstrong followed with consecutive RBI-singles to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead. Darren Yoder capped the outburst with a three-run homer to left, putting the Eagles on top 7-0.

The Eagles made it 8-0 on a run-scoring groundout by Smith in the fourth before the Quakers took advantage of an Eagles' throwing error to get on the board in the bottom of the inning.

Bridgewater added two more runs in the fifth. Hynes led off with a single and Armstrong walked. Both runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt and Hynes scored on a single by Nick Fulk. Armstrong scored on a single to left by Sanderson, giving the Eagles a 10-1 lead.

In the second game, Gallet, Kyle Henshaw and Nick Corbin combined on a five-hit shutout to lead the Eagles to the sweep.

Gallet allowed five hits while walking one and striking out five in his six innings on the mound. Henshaw added two innings of hitless relief. He struck out two and did not walk a batter. Corbin pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to complete the shutout.

The Eagles took the lead with a single tally in the top of the third. Brendan Howell singled through the right side and scored on Fulk's two-out double to left, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

The scored remained 1-0 until the top of the seventh when the Eagles added two more runs. Hacker led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a double by Smith. Walling then plated both runners with a single up the middle, making the score 3-0.

Bridgewater added two insurance runs in the eighth. Sanderson reached on an error to lead off the inning, but was forced out at second on a groundout by Jonathan Mason. Smith then singled through the left side of the infield and Walling loaded the sacks with an infield single. Hynes singled to right to score Mason and Smith, making the score 5-0.

The Eagles are now 13-5 overall and 7-0 in the ODAC.
