Uhl Leads Saints to a 13-4 Win Over Westminster

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - The Thomas More College baseball team defeated Westminster College, 13-4, today (Friday, March 29, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the PAC and the Titans fall to 7-8 overall and 0-3 in the PAC.

Thomas More scored one in the second, nine in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the seventh, while holding Westminster to one run in the seventh, two in the eighth and one in the ninth for the 13-4 victory.

Senior pitcher Paul Uhl (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) earned the win on the mound as he pitched seven innings giving up one run on six hits and struck out two.

Freshman first baseman Donovan Pogue (Sharonville, Ohio/St. Xavier) led the team at the plate as he was three-for-four with a home run, six runs batted-in and three runs scored. Three other Saints had multiple hits in the game as senior right fielder Ryan Darner (Burlington, Ky./Covington Catholic) was two-for-three with a double, two RBI and two runs scored, junior left fielder Jason Handley (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was two-for-five with a run scored and sophomore catcher Brad Popham (Edgewood, Ky./Dixie Heights) was two-for-four with a RBI and a run scored.

The two teams will close out the three-game PAC series tomorrow with a doubleheader at Thomas More Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
