Hornets Fall 10-6 to Monarchs

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College baseball team came upon another tough game, dropping a non-conference decision to Methodist University, 10-6, on Wednesday.

The Hornets fell behind by a score of 6-1 after the first inning for the second consecutive day before attempting to chase down the Monarchs. LC trailed 8-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning before the Hornets could start plating runs at a pace similar to that of Methodist.

Michael Judge collected the first out in the fifth before Joe Rogers singled and Lincoln Evans walked to put Rogers in scoring position. Michael Kenah followed up the walk by lacing a liner through the legs of the third baseman to plate two runners on the three-base error. Jay Kenyon followed up the second out by singling to left field. A bobble in the outfield allowed Kenah to score, cutting the lead to 8-5. Matt Matthews ended the Hornet rally with a single back up the middle for his first career hit and RBI, but the Hornets would get no closer than 8-6.

Rogers went 3-for-5 for the Hornets with two runs scored in addition to making two sliding catches in right field. Kenyon added two hits and a run scored for the Hornets.

Cody Molosky went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Methodist (15-17).

Lynchburg (16-13/6-6 ODAC) travels to Randolph-Macon (11-11/6-6 ODAC) for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader at noon.
