SALISBURY, Md. – The fourth-ranked Salisbury University baseball team received strong starting pitching from senior Andrew Levy and sophomore Brett Collacchi and timely hitting to sweep Wesley College, 3-1 and 2-1, in a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader at the SU Baseball Field on Saturday.

Levy tossed his third complete game of the season, scattering six hits, three walks and an earned run. He struck out four to improve to 5-0. Collacchi carried a no-hitter into the fifth and allowed four hits a run and three walks while fanning five to go to 5-1 on the year.

The Sea Gulls' sweep coupled with a York (Pa.) College sweep of the University of Mary Washington Saturday moved Salisbury (20-5, 8-3 CAC) into first place in the conference standings, a game ahead of the Eagles.

Trailing, 1-0, in the bottom of the sixth inning of the opener, Salisbury scored three times on Wolverines starter Jordan Lozzi. Ken O'Neill tied the game with an RBI single through the left side with one out that plated pinch runner Myles Illian. Bill Root followed with an infield single, putting runners on first and second for Nick Gentry, who lined an RBI single to left field. O'Neill scored the go-ahead run on the play, and Root, who came home on an error, made it a two run-run lead.

Connor Gobright and Matt Robles collected consecutive two-out base hits for Wesley (15-10, 5-6 CAC), but Levy induced a popup from Jon Carlson to end the game.

Carlson gave the Wolverines a 1-0 lead in the top of the third with a single through the left side with one out.

Lozzi was tagged with the loss, dropping to 4-1 after going the distance for Wesley. He allowed nine hits and two earned runs with four walks and four strikeouts.

Gentry, O'Neill and Danny Breen each recorded two hits for SU in the first game.

In the second game, Quinn Griffith launched the second pitch of the bottom of the sixth inning over the right-center field wall to put SU up for good.

Kyle Hamby worked a scoreless seventh, with a strikeout, for his first career save.

Salisbury led, 1-0, after two innings on a Chris Gaines RBI single to left, scoring Johnny Schiotis with two out. Wesley tied it in the top of the fifth on a pair of doubles by Corey Jefferson and Sam Farnell.

Root led Salisbury, going 2-for-3, with his 13th stolen base of the season.

Rob Diamond pitched a complete game, taking the loss for Wesley in game two. He allowed six hits and two walks while fanning three.

The two teams complete the series Sunday at Bob Reed Field in Dover, Del.
