Terriers Fall Twice on Opening Day in Florida

AUBURNDALE, FL- The Thomas baseball team fell in both games of a doubleheader against University of Southern Maine in their first day in Florida.

GAME ONE

USM kicked off the scoring in the second inning with two runs, but Thomas responded in their next at bats in the third with an RBI single by Cody Vigue (Skowhegan, Maine). The Terriers were able to keep within one run (2-1) before USM powered for five runs in the fourth to take a comfortable lead. The Huskies would add another three in the sixth, while holding its opponent to just one hit over the last four innings.

Senior Cody Vigue (Skowhegan, Maine) was the lone repeat hitter for the Terriers. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Tim Locke (Waterville, Maine) went 3.2 innings and was tagged with the loss.

GAME TWO

The Huskies raced out to a 15-1 lead, then held off the Terriers who rallied to get within three (15-12) before the Huskies put the game away with four runs in the sixth inning.

Vigue and senior Jeff Richardson (Rochester, N.H.) had three hits in the second game for the Terriers. Cameron finished with two hits and three RBI. Junior left-hander James McLamb (Livermore Falls, Maine) started on the hill and was saddled with the loss.

Thomas continues its Florida trip on Wednesday with a doubleheader against SUNY-Fredonia.
