More news about: Thomas

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI- The Thomas baseball squad kicked of their 2013 campaign playing a double header in Rhode Island versus Johnson & Whales on Sunday afternoon. The Terriers were unable to come away with a win, falling 6-2 in the first game, then losing 7-6 in the second contest.

GAME ONE

Eric Sucy (Belgrade, Maine) got off to superb start on the bump for Thomas, getting out of the first two innings unscathed. The home side would have a big third inning however, striking for four runs. The Terriers would get on the board in the top of the fifth as Jeffrey Richardson advanced on a sacrifice fly by Dillon Emerson (Concord, N.H.). The Wildcats would respond, scoring insurance runs in the bottom fifth and sixth respectively. Thomas was able to score another run in the seventh, but could not complete a comeback.

Sucy was charged with the loss, going four innings. Emerson and Cody Vigue (Skowhegan, Maine) accounted for the two RBI.

GAME TWO

The Terriers bats came alive in game two, striking for 10 hits all together. Jake Chamblee (South Berwick, Maine) was solid on the mound, going five innings while giving up just one earned run on seven hits. Vigue went 3-5, with one RBI, while Thomas Cameron (Jackson, Maine) was 3-3 at the plate with a base on balls. Thomas could not avenge the Wildcats bats however, as the victors were able to break a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the ninth and complete the two game sweep.

Thomas will return to the diamond on March 26 vs. University of Southern Maine in their first of 10 games in the RussMatt Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.
