Fredonia Takes Two From Thomas

AUBURNDALE, FL- Thomas (0-6) was unable to secure their first win of the season, falling to Fredonia State (7-3) in both games of a doubleheader on the second day of their Florida trip.

GAME ONE

Fredonia jumped out early, picking up three runs a piece in the first two innings of the game. They would add to their lead with two additional runs in the second. Thomas would get on the board in the bottom of the third, picking up three runs.

Both teams would be yielded to no runs in the next three innings, and then Fredonia would add another to their lead in the top of the seven, 9-3.

Eric Sucy (Belgrade, Maine) threw five innings, giving up 10 hits with four strikeouts, while being charged with the loss. Derek Kane (Natick, Mass.) tossed two innings of relief, yielding one earned run, while giving up two hits and striking out two.

GAME TWO

Thomas was able to get a three run lead in the second, while starter Jake Chamblee (South Berwick, Maine) held off the Fredonia runners from crossing the plate until the fifth when they erupted for five runs. The Terriers would try for a last inning comeback in the second, as Sucy hit a pinch-hit double, then was drove in by Jeffrey Richardson (Rochester, N.H.) to cut the lead to one . That was all they were able to muster however, stranding one runner in scoring position, and losing 5-4.

Richardson and Kane each collected two hits in the contest, while Kane drove in two RBI.

Chamblee was recorded for the loss, tossing four innings with four earned runs and two strikeouts. Sean Twohig (Braintree, Mass.) threw solid two innings of relief, giving up one hit and recording two strikeouts.

The Terriers will return to the diamond in Florida tomorrow at 1pm as they take on Freed-Hardeman.
