Konkle Produces Game-Winning RBI

ALBION, Mich. – B.J. Konkle hit a two-run single in the fourth inning and three relief pitchers combined to throw three shutout innings as Albion College eked out a 5-4 victory over Siena Heights University in a non-league baseball game at Frank Joranko Field.

Siena Heights scored two in its half of the fourth to trim Albion's lead to 3-2. Konkle put the momentum back on the Britons' side with his hit to score Kyle Kowal and Brendan Diamond.

Siena Heights tacked on two runs in the sixth, but Briton relievers Gunnar Owens, Troy Bodtke, and Bob Green protected Albion's lead. Matt Temrowski pitched the first five innings to gain the first victory of his collegiate career. Temrowski allowed eight hits and two walks.

Diamond, Adam Mazza, and Tony Cappelletty collected two hits apiece.

Albion is scheduled to begin a four-game Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association series with Hope College at 2 p.m. Friday at Frank Joranko Field.
