WAYNE, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University is making a habit out of knocking off the top baseball teams in the  New Jersey Athletic Conference. One week after stunning then No. 1 ranked Kean University, NJCU scored five runs in the third inning of game one and pounded out a season-high 20 hits as the Gothic Knights upset second-place William Paterson University, 11-5, in the opener of an NJAC doubleheader at Jeff Albies Field on April 20. In game two, NJCU led 3-0 before the host Pioneers scored four times in the sixth inning and survived for a 5-3 victory and split of the two-game set.
 
NJCU snapped a five-game losing streak with the opening game decision and is now 15-18 overall (4-10 NJAC) with six games remaining in the regular season. The Pioneers (21-11, 9-5 NJAC) now are tied for second in the league with Rowan University.
 
NJCU snapped a five-game losing streak to WP and won in Wayne for the first time since at least prior to the 1987 season when full game-by-game results began being tracked.
 
Rookie catcher ANDREW NIECH (Avenel, NJ/Colonia) was a combined 5-for-9 with three RBIs in the two games and senior left fielder ANDREW RIVERA (Edison, NJ/Edison) went 5-for-9 with two runs and two RBIs in the twinbill, upping his career hits total to 130.
