PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The Bears offense had been clicking all season and did not stop tonight as St. Joseph's Brooklyn College (18-9) defeated the City College of New York (4-26), 23-5, in a run-ruled contest on Wednesday evening at the St. Joseph's College Long Island Complex in Patchogue.

Angel Zapata and Victor Vargas registered two RBI and combined to go 2-for-5 with two runs and two doubles but a 12-run fifth inning by the Bears blew the game open for SJC.

The Bears banged out 21 hits in the contest and Rosario DiLorenzo (4-1) went 6.0 innings, allowing all five runs to pick up the victory. Mike Smith (0-1) was tagged with the loss in his first start this season as the right-hander went 4.0 innings, allowing 11 runs – six earned.

CCNY returns to action on Saturday at the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The contest will be played in Van Cortlandt Park before City College's senior-day on Sunday against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
