The No. 2-ranked Tommie baseball team moved closer to securing the program's 11th consecutive MIAC championship with Sunday's doubleheader split at Bethel. UST won the opener 9-4 but lost game two, 2-0.
UST (27-5 overall, 15-1 MIAC) had a 19-game winning streak end in game two as BU's Matt Rowley threw a five-hit shutout.
Steve Maher took the win and Mark Dominik added a save in game one. Dylan Thomas allowed just one earned run and struck out eight in six innings in game two but took the loss.
Thomas went 3-for-4 including a two-run homer in game one. Tim Kuzniar and Ryan Gerber also homered.
Tyler Peterson drove in three runs in game one but had a 21-game hitting streak halted in game two.
St. Thomas is home Monday to play Gustavus in a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader and can lock up the outright MIAC title with one victory. The Toms close the regular season at home Tuesday against Hamline (2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
The Toms have won 46 of their last 48 conference regular-season games.
