Giants' Win Streak Snapped at 14 Games

La Plume, PA – Montclair State University used a four-run seventh inning to rally for a 6-5 victory over 11th ranked Keystone College on Friday afternoon, snapping the Giants 14-game win streak.  The Red Hawks improve to 16-18-1 on the season with the upset win while Keystone will take a 33-8 overall mark into NCAA Regional play beginning next week.
 
Montclair's Jose Carlos Padilla led off the game with a single to left field and advanced to second on a wild pitch before scoring on Cody Pace double to left center to give the Red Hawks a 1-0 lead in the tip of the first inning.
 
The Red Hawks doubled their lead in the visitor's second when Nicholas Martins scored on a single to center by Mike Tolerico.
 
Keystone got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning as Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) ripped a two-out double to left center to score Gabriel Molina (Bronx, NY/James Monroe) from second to cut the Giants' deficit to 2-1.
 
The hosts used a pair of two-out singles to put runners on second and third in the home half of the sixth inning before Molina doubled down the right field line, scoring Domenick Montanaro (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township) and Gabriel Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Perkiomen School) to give Keystone their first lead of the game.  Ricky Riscica (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) then doubled to left center to plate Molina before scoring on a base hit off the bat of Rick McLaughlin (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), pushing the Giants' lead to 5-2.
 
Montclair used back-to-back singles to put a pair of runners on in the top of the eighth inning before Anderson Rosa hit a two-run double to left center to make it a one run game.  The Red Hawks then tied the contest on a single up the middle by Tolerico before taking a 6-5 lead on an error by the Giants.
 
Kyle Papp was credited with the win to improve to 3-0 on the season after allowing two hits and one walk in 1.2 innings on the mound after coming on in relief of starter Jake Campbell, who surrendered five runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings of work.  John Silvestri picked up his first save of the season with a perfect, 1.2 innings on the hill to close out the victory.
 
Scott Glozzy was 3-4 at the plate with a run scored to lead the Red Hawks while Nicholas Martins and Louis Martini added a pair of hits apiece.
 
Keystone starting pitcher Rob Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) allowed two runs on four hits while striking out two batters in two innings of work.  Mike Pembleton (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Township) worked a pair of scoreless innings, allowing three hits and striking out three batters.  Patrick Robinson (Goshen, NY/Goshen) tossed a 1-2-3 fifth inning before Zachary Duffy (Rockville Center, NY/Oceanside) retired the side in order in the sixth inning.  Michael Meszoros (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick) worked out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning to keep the Giants' lead at three runs. 
 
Adam Sosnowski (Dickson City, PA/Mid Valley) (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season after surrendering four runs on four hits while striking out one batter in the seventh inning while Justin Martinez (Bronx, NY/Clifton) allowed a hit and a walk while fanning three batters in 1.2 innings on the hill.
 
Molina was 203 with two RBIs and two runs scored on the day while Guerrero added a pair of hits in the loss for the Giants.
 
Keystone will learn their NCAA Regional fate on Sunday when the brackets are announced at 10:00 a.m.
