The Oglethorpe baseball team was swept by home-standing Huntingdon in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon in Montgomery, Ala., losing the first game 10-0 and dropping the second one 10-1.

The Stormy Petrels combined for just nine hits over the course of the two games, five in Game 1 and four in Game 2, compared with the home-standing Hawks' 22 total hits.

Patrick Kulick had the best day at the plate for Oglethorpe, going a combined 4-for-7 with an RBI over the course of the two games. He got the start on the mound in Game 1 and suffered the loss, allowing six runs on four hits over two innings.

In Game 1, the Petrels allowed three runs in each of the first two innings, falling behind 6-0 early. They added a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth for their 10-0 lead, which they held for the remainder of the seven scheduled innings. The Petrels got just two men to third over the course of the contest.

In Game 2, the Petrels got out to an early 1-0 lead, scoring a run in the first. Left fielder Andre Turnquest led off the game with a single and advanced to second on a groundout. Kulick, who drove in the game-winning run in the ninth inning on Saturday, came through again with an RBI single that gave the Petrels the one-run lead. However, the Hawks scored seven runs over the next three innings, giving themselves a 7-1 lead before Oglethorpe could respond. Huntingdon would add three more, one each in the fifth, sixth and seventh, to account for the 10-1 final score.

The loss drops Oglethorpe to 1-2 on the young season. They'll return home next weekend to take on Curry in their home-opening series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and single game Sunday at 11 a.m.
