YellowJackets Complete Series Sweep of Louisiana College to Begin ASC Play

The LeTourneau University baseball team completed a sweep of Louisiana College to begin ASC play taking a doubleheader, 5-3 and 10-6 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The YellowJackets (6-0, 3-0 ASC) had nine and 17 hits, respectively in the two wins. LeTourneau starting pitchers – Cody Whitley in game one and Justin Jenkins in game two – scattered 13 hits and struck out nine to raise their records to 2-0.
 
The Wildcats (1-5, 0-3 ASC) offense was led by Kyle Feazell, who went 1-for-3 and a RBI in game one and 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI in the night cap.

Seven-different YellowJackets had multiple hits to contribute to a 10-6 win over the Wildcats to complete the series sweep.
 
LeTourneau jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. They added to their lead when they scored three in the third inning for a 5-0 advantage. The Wildcats cut into the deficit with a run in the fourth, sixth and seventh to trim the LeTourneau lead to two, 5-3.
 
With a two-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, LeTourneau sent nine batters to the plate to blow the game open. In the inning, David Perkins had a RBI single, Dillon Yates added a two-RBI double and Bryce Griffin added a RBI double to spark the attack.
 
The Wildcats mounted a threat when they scored twice on the benefit of a pair of LeTourneau errors in the eighth. They added a solo home run in the ninth for the final margin.
 
To go along with their two hits, Perkins and Yates had three and two RBI, respectively. Jenkins pitched five innings, allowing eight hits, a run – that was earned and struck out three to raise his record to 2-0.
 
The YellowJackets will host Castleton State in a pair of games on Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m., respectively before returning to the rigors of the ASC.
