Winter Haven, Fla.-Junior right-hander Kyle Morvan (Smithfield, RI) hurled seven strong innings on the mound to help lift the Rhode Island College baseball team to a 15-5 victory over Daniel Webster College on Monday morning at the 2014 RussMatt Invitational.

Morvan (2-0) struck out a total of eight batters, while allowing eight hits and five runs (three earned) through seven innings for Rhode Island College (3-2) in the victory. Meanwhile, the Anchormen pounded out 20 hits in the win and plated five runs in just the third inning alone to pull away from Daniel Webster (0-3) early in the ballgame.

After adding two runs in the top of the fourth and a single run in both the sixth and seventh innings, RIC tacked on six more runs in the eighth inning to run away with the 10-run victory.

Ten different Anchormen recorded hits on the day, led by sophomore first baseman Angelo St. Laurent (Cranston, RI), who went 4-for-5 at the dish with four RBI.

Senior left fielder Justin Costa (Cranston, RI) went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and three runs scored, while sophomore right fielder Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) added a trio of hits in the win to go along with an RBI and two runs scored.

Junior second baseman Tyler Collins (Cranston, RI) came off the bench and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored for the Anchormen, while freshman third baseman Sean Getman (Oneonta, NY) posted a 2-for-4 performance at the plate to go along with two RBI, a stolen base, and three runs scored.

Senior designated hitter Justin Rainville (Cumberland, RI) chipped in with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, while junior center fielder Patrick Rogers (Waterford, CT) contributed with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.

Freshman right-hander Jake Roy (Seekonk, MA) and freshman left-hander Aaron Bowen (Foster, RI) each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to follow Morvan's stellar outing.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College takes on Fitchburg State in a doubleheader, beginning at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, March 11.
