FORT PIERCE, Fla. – A four-run third inning in game two launched the Elizabethtown baseball team past Marywood, 6-1, at the Lawnwood Complex Tuesday afternoon. The Pacers scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning to take game one, 3-1.

Dylan Manning and Ryan Haggerty were each 2-for-3 with two runs batted in during the Blue Jays' (4-2) game two victory. Manning scored twice, as did Richy Masciarelli.

Marywood (2-2) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on back-to-back singles by Mike Diskin and Vince Rebar, a sacrifice bunt and Thomas Richards' sacrifice fly.

It didn't take long for E-town to counter, doing so with the help of poor fielding by its opposition.

Two of the Jays' first three batters in the bottom of the third –Masciarelli and Alex Holbert– reached on errors around a Frank Ragozzino single. Masciarelli scored the first of his two runs on an errant throw from Marywood pitcher Billy Kelly with Holbert sprinting down to first.

The next batter, Dylan Manning, came through with an RBI single to stick Elizabethtown in front, 2-1.

Parke Martin's sac fly and an RBI single from Haggerty later in the inning made the Pacers' fielding blunders hurt that much more.

Josh Sollenberger protected the three-run lead, giving his team yet another superb start. It seems like a broken record, but the Blue Jays' starting arms have given their team a chance to win in all six games so far.

Sollenberger was roughed up a bit in his season debut, a relief apperance against 21st-ranked Misericordia. Tuesday, he was rough on the Pacers, holding them to six hits and one run while walking none and striking out three.

The sophomore from Palmyra easily went all seven innings for Elizabethtown's second complete game and fifth quality start this season.

E-town's first complete game of the year came a few hours earlier in game one, as Manning and Marywood's Bryan Noonan posted almost identical stat lines.

Manning conceded three runs (one earned) on four hits and struck out five over six frames. Noonan pitched all seven, holding the Blue Jay offense in check with just three hits and an unearned run allowed. He also struck out five.

Similar to decisive third inning in game two, it was Elizabethtown jumping on top in the fifth of game one when another Pacer error allowed Haggerty to come home with two outs.

E-town would have its own defensive issues in the bottom of the inning after Manning plunked Rebar. An error put Dan Hull on first as Rebar took second. Richards then doubled them both in for a 2-1 lead.

Dominic Loughlin's two-out single scored Richards to add an insurance run.

Aaron Rahn, Martin and Haggerty turned in the only hits for the Blue Jays in the opener.

Wednesday provides a day off for the Jays, their first since arriving in Florida Saturday. They'll take to the diamond again Thursday, playing two against Immaculata before finishing the trip Friday with another game against nationally ranked Misericordia.
