New Paltz escaped with the win in the ninth after the Nittany Lions plated two unearned runs. Following an RBI single that cut the deficit to 9-7, Penn State Berks put in a pinch runner, while the Hawks called upon sophomore pitcher Christian Huertas (Bronx, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) out of the bullpen to retire the potential game-tying run. Penn State Berks responded in the second with an RBI single by senior catcher Dillon Landrigan, tying the score at 1-all. The Hawks received two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead, while the Nittany Lions erupted for a three-run sixth to make it a two-run game. The Hawks added a bit of insurance in the seventh, scoring three runs to take a 9-4 cushion.

Senior pitcher Andrew Grann (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) earned the win, giving up four unearned runs off five hits while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings of work. Huertas, who faced just one batter in the ninth, earned the save.

Senior pitcher Ryan Tantala suffered the loss for Penn State Berks, permitting six runs (five earned) off seven hits and three walks while striking out two.
