Centenary scored all of its runs in three innings – four in the second, five in the third and three in the fourth – en route to a 12-6 win over the LeTourneau University baseball team on Tuesday night in Shreveport.

The Gents (6-10) were led by the 4-for-4 effort from Nic Parrott, who drove in four and scored three times to lead Centenary. He led a 14-hit attack for Centenary as teammates Chris Jones and Christian Sebastien each had three had hits. In relief of starter Holden Novak, Taylor Henry pitched 4.1 innings, giving up three unearned runs and striking out seven to get the win to improve to 1-2.

The YellowJackets (13-2) had nine hits in the defeat including three from senior David Perkins and junior Ryan Bertram. LeTourneau utilized four pitchers including sophomore Christian Baker, who got the loss and falls to 0-1.

LeTourneau took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when junior Caleb Pritchett scored on a passed ball. The senior lead-off hitter reached on a single and moved around the bases courtesy of a ground out and a stolen base. The Longview native hustled home for the early advantage.

Centenary gained the lead in the second inning when they added four runs on four hits in the second inning. The YellowJackets got a run in the third inning but after the Gents sent 10 batters to the plate in its half of the inning for five runs, they held a 9-2 advantage.
A three-run fourth by the home team extended the lead to 10, 12-2. LeTourneau scored twice in the fifth and seventh for the final margin.

The YellowJackets will return to the rigors of the American Southwest Conference with a three-game series against area rival East Texas Baptist in Marshall. The three-game series starts with a 6 p.m. contest on Friday night and a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
