Fighting Scots Knock Off Gorloks, 9-7

The #6 ranked Webster University baseball team, fresh off a win over the 10th ranked team in the country, fell to the College of Wooster, 9-7, on March 14 in Port Charlotte, FL. The Gorloks overcame a 4-0 lead, but couldn't hold on as the Fighting Scots battled back to win.
Down, 4-0, two three-run innings gave Webster a 6-4 lead. In the fourth, Ryan Hall (SR, Chesterfield, MO/Eureka HS) was hit by a pitch and Taylor Stoulp (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Mary's HS) singled. A Jeff Kammer (JR, Chesterfield, MO/Jefferson College) sac fly scored Hall and Joe Winckel (SR, Bonne Terre, MO/North County HS) reached on a hit by a pitch also.
Max Morohashi (SO, Encino, CA/Campbell Hall) singled Stoulp in, Winckel taking third. Winckel scored on an error on a ground ball by Ian Foege (SR, Eureka, MO/Eureka HS) to third, making it a 4-3 Fighting Scots lead.
In the Webster fifth, Corey Laskey (SR, Vernon Hills, IL/Adlai E Stevenson HS, Hall, and Stoulp singled to load the bases with none out. A two-out Jared Turner (SR, Springfield, IL/Chatham Glenwood HS) double, cleared the bases, giving Webster a 6-4 lead.
Wooster came back in the sixth with three straight singles off starter Isaac Behme (JR, Harrisburg, IL/Harrisburg HS) to load the bases with no out. Jack Bensinger (JR, Los Angeles, CA/Campbell Hall relieved Behme. Two sacrifice flies and a single gave Wooster three runs and a 7-6 lead.
Webster would tie it one more time in the bottom of the sixth, 7-7, as Matt Wollnik (FR, Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley HS) singled with one out and scored on a two-out double by Hall.
Mitch Stefani (SO, Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley HS) came on to pitch a scoreless seventh. But he was chased in the eighth, after a single, balk, running scoring single, with a second run scoring on an errant throw by Foege. After a two-out walk by Stefani, freshmen C J Lee (Aurora, IL/Waubonsie Valley HS) and Johnny Lord (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley HS) closed out the Fighting Scots ninth.
Laskey walked to start the bottom of the ninth, but was erased in a double play as Wooster won 9-7.
Turner was 1-4 with 3 RBIs, Stoulp was 2-5 with two runs scored, and Morohashi was 2-4 with an RBI. Stefani took the loss, going 2 2/3 innings, giving up three hits, a walk, two runs, one earned, while striking out three.
The Gorloks wind up their spring trip with a game vs. Baldwin Wallace University on March 15 at Punta Gorldon, FL.
