Trailing 4-1 entering the bottom of the third inning, the Wildcats opened things up in a big way, as they sent 15 batters to the plate and plated 11 runs on 10 hits in the inning to take the lead and eventually take the series sweep with a 16-5 win over the Texas-Tyler Patriots.

The Patriots jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a Garrett Nelson RBI sac fly to right field.

The Wildcats would answer immediately with an RBI double by senior first baseman Matt Scott that scored Mark Riendeau to tie the game at 1-1, but the Patriots would take the lead back immediately in the top of the second with an RBI single off the bat of centerfielder Sam Lane and a two RBI single to left field by Buddy McCoy to put UT-Tyler back in control at 4-1.

That was the last time the Patriots would enjoy the comfort of such a lead, however, as the Wildcats busted things open with one of the biggest offensive innings in school history as LC would rattle off eight straight hits and see 12 consecutive batters reach base after the inning was started with Darien Bartie flying out to centerfield.

That big third inning would give LC a 12-4 advantage before they added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning and a three-run frame in their half of the sixth inning.

LC would rack up 18 hits on the day, with Cary Myers, Kyle Feazell, and Matt Scott all collecting three each.

Sophomore left hander Luke Pinkard earned the win for LC after tossing 5.1 innings of relief, giving up just two hits and one earned run.

The Wildcats series sweep is their first against Texas-Tyler since 2005 and their first against any opponent since they accomplished the same feat against LeTourneau in March of 2012.

With the sweep, the Wildcats are now right back in the thick of the ASC Tournament hunt, as they sit at 5-10 overall and 4-8 in ASC play.
