AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Albion College completed its spring break trip with a 4-5 record after its rally from an 8-2 deficit came up short in a 10-6 loss to Penn State University-Altoona.

Starting pitcher Zach Maresh left the Britons facing a 7-1 after three innings. Pat McHenry slugged a two-run double in the first and Logan Madill added RBI doubles in the first and third after Maresh got behind in the count. John Szmed also collected two RBI with a long single to left in the third.

Relievers Matt Temrowski and Jesse Brigham kept deficit manageable by combining for one run over 3.2 innings.

Albion cut the deficit to 8-6 with two-run innings in the seventh and eighth. Michael Fischbach pounded a two-run double in the seventh and Ben Crawford produced a RBI single and Brendan Diamond added a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The rally came up short, however, as The Lions tacked on a pair of add-on runs in the eighth.

Diamond and Fischbach finished the day with three hits and two RBI. Fischbach hit .394 on the trip, driving in 13 runs.

Albion is scheduled to make its northern debut Tuesday with a nine-inning game against Bluffton University.
