ADRIAN, Mich. – Lee Madziar and Kyle Kowal combined to collect seven of Albion College's 15 hits Friday as the Britons started its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association series with 6-0 and 7-4 losses to Adrian College.
In game one, Albion advanced runners to third base in four of the seven innings. Adrian extended its lead to 3-0 in the fifth when Sam Fischer launched a two-run homerun to left field. Mitch Stefanski and Ian Mikowski collected RBI singles to help Adrian tack on three runs in the sixth.
Madziar and Brendan Diamond knocked RBI singles as Albion forged a 2-1 lead in the second inning of game two. The Britons forged a 3-3 tie when Michael Fischbach doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the third. Albion achieved a 4-3 lead when Davin Montgomery to score Dan Mills in the fourth. Adrian pulled away. taking advantage of Albion errors to strike for two runs in the fourth and sixth innings.
Albion returns to Nicolay Field Saturday to complete the four-game series with a doubleheader of seven-inning games. The first pitch is set for 1 p.m.
