The Vikings saw their five-game winning streak come to an end with a 9-5 loss to UW-Oshkosh Saturday at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.

North Park's offense sputtered for most of the day against Titan pitching, especially starter Joe Pavolich, who held the Vikings to just two hits over five innings. The Vikings got on the board in the second without the benefit of a hit: Mike Coduto drew a leadoff walk, stole second and third, and came in on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Tyler Woolbright that was caught in foul territory by the right fielder.

Oshkosh took advantage of three walks, a passed ball, and a base hit off Alex Silverthorne (2-1) to take a 2-1 lead in the third. The Vikings tied the game in the bottom of the inning as Zak Worsley reached on a bunt single, stole second, took third on a groundout, and stole home as the front end of a double steal.

The Titans regained the lead with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth. With one on and two outs, the Viking defense – which had committed just one error in the last three games – committed two costly miscues to give Oshkosh a 4-2 advantage. The Titans added a run in the fifth on a solo home run by Bobby Kachel, and they widened their lead by scoring twice in the seventh against reliever Alex Vannucci and twice in the eighth against Matt Peterson.

Trailing 9-2 and recording only two hits going into the eighth, the Viking offense finally showed signs of life. Joe Belmonte got a one-out single, and Mike Coduto and Tyler Woolbright each walked to load the bases. Mitchell Jordan hit an RBI single and Connor Sarant followed with a two-run base hit to make it a 9-5 contest. Worsley walked to load the bases with two outs, bringing up Eric Sousanes as the potential tying run, but he struck out to end the inning.
