Offenses Dominate as Warhawks Outscore Union 26-11

Michael Gonzalez (Delavan/Delavan-Darien) went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate to aid the 11th ranked Warhawks in a 26-11 victory over Union College Tuesday in Auburndale, Florida.  Gonzalez belted four doubles, and tallied three runs and four RBIs as the Warhawks totaled 20 hits to improve to 7-1 this season.  Union falls to 4-2.

The Warhawks got on the board with two in the top of the first but Union battled back to make it 2-1 after one.  An eight run outburst in the second put the Warhawks up 10-1, but Union again battled back to make it 10-5 after two.  Another five runs by UW-W made it 15-5 after two and a half, but Union continued to pound away and made it 15-11 after three.

After that the Warhawk bats kept firing while the Union offense went silent.  The Warhawks added two in the fourth, four in the fifth, two in the sixth and three more in the seventh to make it 26-11.

Colin Grove (Beloit/Memorial) came into the ballgame in the bottom of the third for UW-W and silenced the Dutchmen for the next four and a third innings while striking out six.  Andrew Lowe (Whiting, IN/Whiting) and Matt Langlie (Mundelein, IL/Mundelein) split the final two innings to secure the win for Whitewater.

Nine different Warhawks collected a hit.  Mikole Pierce (DePere/DePere) went 4-for-5 at the dish, scoring five, and driving in two.  Third baseman Jared Fon (Germantown/Germantown) was 3-for-5 with three runs and five RBIs, while teammate Kyle Haen (Madison/Edgewood)went 3-for-7 with four runs and three RBIs.

The Warhawks will return to the field to face St. Olaf in a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 10 am at Chain of Lakes Stadium in Florida.
