PITTSBURGH, PA – Tyler Ferguson registered a no-hitter and Cole Lentz threw seven shutout innings as La Roche Baseball (12-10, 3-1) came up with a big double-header sweep of conference rival Penn State Behrend on Monday afternoon. Ferguson registered 10 strikeouts in the game to break Jeff Butterworth's career strikeout record (172 strikeouts).

Cole Lentz threw a complete game shutout to record the 7-0 Game 1 shutout.

Penn State Behrend's Dante Dasantis threw a solid three innings before the Redhawks chased him with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Luis Navedo led off the inning with a single and Brian Tougher was hit by a pitch before Franzee Barlamas roped a single to left field to take a 1-0 lead. In the next at bat Sean Lubin placed a perfect hit down the right field line for a 2-run double while Corey Podvasnik and Corey Lazor added RBIs.

Navedo made a great diving catch in the top of the sixth inning to keep the shutout going and Colin Williamson added a 2-run single up the middle to go up 7-0 in the bottom half of the inning. Lentz pitched a perfect seventh inning to preserve the shutout victory.

Lubin went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, 2 runs, and a double while Williamson had a pair of RBI singles. Navedo reached base twice and scored and Podvasnik scored twice. Barlamas notched an RBI single and scored.

Starting pitcher Cole Lentz threw seven shutout innings and allowed just five base runners to register the win.

Tyler Ferguson gave La Roche another strong pitching performance and registered the no-no in the 3-1 Game 2 victory.

Penn State Behrend took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but the Redhawks answered in the bottom half to tie it up. La Roche led off the inning with three straight walks and Fiekles followed with an RBI single to tie it at 1-1. The Redhawks took a 2-1 lead on a sacrifice fly to right field and added another run in the second inning on a double steal. Ferguson cruised from there.

Ferguson did not allow an earned run and struck out 10 batters in 7 innings. Fiekles and Podvasnik had RBIs while Navedo, Tougher, and Barlamas scored runs.

La Roche Baseball will host #23 Heidelberg tomorrow at 4PM. This will be the Redhawks' seventh game against a top 25 opponent.
