Thomas More Falls, 4-1, at Centre

(DANVILLE, Ky.) - The Thomas More College baseball team fell, 4-1, to Centre College today (Wednesday, April 2, 2014) in a non-conference game at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Kentucky. The game was called in the top of the eighth inning due to lightning in the Danville area.

With the loss, the Saints fall to 9-8 and with the win, the Colonels improve to 9-15.

Centre scored one run in the first, two in the third and one in the fifth and held Thomas More to one run in the first for the 4-1 victory.

Senior third baseman Travis Miller (Erlanger, Ky./St. Henry) led the Saints at the plate as he was two-for-three with a double. Three other Saints had a hit in the game as senior right fielder Cody Makin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) was one-for-two with a run batted-in, senior second baseman Jason Handely (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was one-for-three and freshman center fielder Casey Metzger (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) was one-for-four with a run scored.

Freshman pitcher Addison Brown (Erlanger, Ky./Lloyd Memorial) suffered the loss on the mound as he pitched three innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits, while striking out three.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (April 5) when it opens a three-game Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) series with Grove City College as the two teams will play a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for1 p.m. at Thomas More Field in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
