The Newbury College baseball team honored local firefighters for their tireless service to their communities before last Saturday's scheduled New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) double-header, on March 29th. 

Watertown fire captain Ryan Nicholson and Somerville firefighter Derek Nolan threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Nighthawk backstops senior David Dubay (Farmington, Conn.) and junior Thomas Fox (Trumbull, Conn.). 

The late Boston Lieutenant Edward J. Walsh, who tragically passed away in Boston's Back Bay's nine-alarm fire on March 26th, was born and raised in Watertown and has deep roots on the Watertown Fire Department. Walsh's father Edward J. Walsh, Sr. was a Watertown firefighter while his cousin Tom Walsh is currently a captain in Watertown.
