Berry beats Covenant, 12-8, and take season series

Rome, GA.—The Vikings won its second game of the year against Covenant College by a final score of 12-8. A strong hitting game swayed in Berry's favor with a total of 33 hits between the two clubs. BC improved to 22-10 and the Scots moved to 21-8.

Eight of the starting nine batters for Berry had a multi-hit game. Six of the eight players had two hits each. Doug Heath and Stephen Gaylor collected three hits of their own. Gaylor led the team with three RBI and had a triple and two stolen bases in the contest. McTier MosleyAlex McGill, and Heath collected two RBIs each.

Grant Perkins touched home three times in the game. TC Boyd along with Zach Farmer and Gaylor scored twice.

Will Estes started the game going two innings and giving up one run off three hits. Yet his game was ended abruptly with a comeback hit that struck his foot. Braxton Teal (1-0) picked up the win after relieving Estes. Teal went four strong innings only giving up three hits, no runs, and picking up two strikeouts. The Scots starter Jordan Lester (4-2) got pinned with his second loss of the season.

Covenant cracked 15 hits in the matchup. Scott Gillespie, David Lockwood, K.C. Simons, and Forrest Hunter picked up two hits of their own. Jonah Paul led the Scots pitching staff going three innings and only giving up three hits. Paul was the only pitcher to not give up a run.

Berry returns to William R. Bowdoin Field on Saturday April 12 to duel against the Lynx of Rhodes College.
