GREENSBORO, N.C. – Herc Ingels beat out a seventh-inning single to break a 6-6 tie and help Guilford College to a 9-6 baseball win over visiting Greensboro College Wednesday.

Ingels' two-out, bases-loaded hit off of reliever Jay Cumbo knocked in Tyler Petersen, who reached on a throwing error by Wil McGuire (0-2) earlier in the inning.

The Quakers added two insurance runs in the eighth. Nathan Fulbright's deep double to center field scored Corey Wallace from first. Fulbright scored on the following play on one of five Greensboro errors, which contributed to five unearned runs.

The Pride (4-23) put its first two runners of the eighth inning on second and third to chase reliever Justin Jordan (2-1) in favor of Justin Morrison. The junior fanned Tony Starke for the inning's first out. After intentionally walking Blake Throneburg to load the bases, James Feldmann hit a grounder to shortstop, which forced Throneburg at second. Throneburg was called for interference, completing the inning-ending double play. Morrison retired the side in the ninth for his team-leading third save of the season.

Corey Wallace paced the Quakers' 14-hit attack with three hits, including a three-run first-inning homer, his league-leading ninth of the season. Michael Whited also had three hits and John Macon Smith contributed two hits, including a two-run sixth-inning double.

Greensboro's Branden Soden had two doubles among his game-high three hits and Throneburg went two-for-three with two runs scored.

Guilford hosts Lynchburg College Thursday (4/10) at 3:00 p.m.
