#2 Gorloks Drub Panthers, 16-0

Bensinger went four innings, allowing just two hits, no runs, and striking out six, evening his record at 1-1 on the year.  Zach Schneider (SR, Grayslake, IL/Warren Township HS), Taw Frederickson (SO, Foosland, IL/Fisher HS) and freshman Joe Elfrink (Leopold, MO/Leopold HS) all took turns pitching an inning each, to finish out the game.

Elfrink made his Gorlok debut, pitching the seventh inning and striking out all three Panthers he faced.

Webster scored early and scored often in the win.  The Gorloks scored six runs in the first, three in the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth to take a 12-0 lead.  Eleven Gorloks went to the plate in the six-run first, banging out seven hits and receiving a walk.  For the evening, Webster had 18 hits.

Brett Buchanan (SR, Villa Park, IL/Willowbrook HS), who had a two-run double in the first, came back with a two-run homer in the Webster second.

In the fifth, Webster cleared its bench as eight out of nine starters were replaced.  This led for some unusual sights late in the game, finding closer Jason Gray (SR, St. Louis, MO/Eureka HS) in left field, starter Chris Jansen (JR, Cicero, IN/St. Joseph's College) getting a pinch-single for Buchanan, and reliever Matt Goro (FR, Wildwood, MO/Lafayette HS) camped at first base.

In addition to Elfrink, freshman infielder Austin Pierce (St. Peters, MO/Francis Howell Central HS) made his Webster debut, taking over at shortstop and going 0-2 at the plate.

Taylor Stoulp (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Mary's HS), fresh off his second SLIAC Player of the Week nod, was 3-4, with two RBIs and two runs.  Buchanan finished 2-4, with a double, home run, and four RBIs.  Corey Lasky (SR, Vernon Hills, IL/Adlai E Stevenson HS) was 2-2, with a double, two runs and an RBI, and Joe Winckel (SR, Bonne Terre, MO/North County HS) was 1-3, with three RBIs.

Webster is 23-4 overall on the season.  The Gorloks will host Spalding University (KY) for a three-game series on April 19-20 at GCS Ballpark.  The Golden Eagles reside in second place in the SLIAC with a 14-2 record.
