The Pointers opened up game one with a 1-0 lead after scoring on a double to left center.   UW-W took advantage of a couple of UW-SP miscues in the bottom of the fifth and scored two runs on two separate wild pitches to take a 2-1 lead.

UW-SP retaliated in the top of the sixth with two of their own runs to regain the lead at 3-2.

The Warhawks got the leadoff hitter on in the next three innings but were unable to score again.  Point added an insurance run in the seventh and another in the ninth to bring the final score to 5-2.

Each team issued six walks in the game and the teams combined for twelve hits.  The Warhawks were held to under five hits for just the second time this season.

Game two saw the teams trade runs for the first four innings with the Warhawks drawing first blood in the bottom of the first.

With the game tied 2-2 in the top of the sixth Pointer third baseman Taylor Carlson scored on a wild pitch to give the visitors a 3-2 lead.

Mike Mierow (Brookfield/Central) led off the top of the sixth with a triple to left center and after Steve Chamberlain (Rockford, IL/Guilford) was hit by a pitch, Nick Kuhlmann (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis Southwest) singled to left field to tie the game.  Kyle Haen (Madison/Edgewood) followed with a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third and Dylan Friend (Burlington/Burlington) walked to load the bases.  Mikole Pierce (DePere/DePere) followed with a sharp ground out that scored one more and gave the Warhawks a 4-3 lead.

The Pointers threatened in the top of the eighth after the leadoff hitter singled and advanced to second on a balk.  The runner moved to third on a one-out single to right but Donnie Manke (Lodi/Lodi) got the Warhawks out of the jam by striking out the next batter and picking off the baserunner at first.

Dylan Friend (Burlington/Burlington) singled in Kuhlmann in the bottom of the eight to add an insurance run and give UW-W a 5-3 lead.

The Pointers refused to go quietly.  After getting the first two batters to ground out Andrew Lowe (Whiting, IN/Whiting) walked the next two.  He finally ended it by getting designated hitter Kyle McHugh to pop out to second base.

Scott Plaza (Arlington Heights, IL/Prospect) earned the win for the Warhawks allowing three runs on four hits across seven innings while striking out seven.  He is 5-1 this season.  Lowe earned the save, his first of the year.

The Warhawks totaled 14 hits in the doubleheader with no Warhawk collecting more than two.  Dylan Friend (Burlington/Burlington) drew three walks for the day and added two runs and one RBI.

The Warhawks will travel to UW-Platteville on Tuesday, April 22 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.  The two teams split a doubleheader earlier in the season in Whitewater.
