More news about: Husson

Waterville, ME - Husson baseball managed 11 runs on 19 hits in a weekday double dip with Thomas en route 4-1 and 7-0 NAC wins. Evan Pelkey and Ryan Rebar both had strong showings on the mound in the wins, while Casey Estes threw two-thirds of an inning in relief to close out game two.

Game 1: (Husson 4, Thomas 1)

Game one was scoreless until the second when Husson tacked on three runs to open up a lead. Cody McInnis stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and reached on a throwing error by the third baseman, scoring Seth Freudenberger, Andrew Curran and Josh Gaudette. Guadette went 2-4 in the game and plated an RBI in the next inning to score Brandon Gendreau.

With a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third, Husson gave up their lone run on the afternoon. Nik Beeson hit a sac fly to Freudenberger in right scoring Nate Peasley to cut the Husson lead to 4-1.

Rebar pitched well for the Eagles the rest of the way, however, allowing just the one run on a hit and a walk while fanning three in seven strong.

James McLamb was tagged with the loss for Thomas in four innings, while Rett Adams pitched the final three scoreless innings for the Terriers, striking out one.

Game 2: (Husson 7, Thomas 0)

Game two was more of the same story for the Eagles. J.T. Whitten went 2-4 with a run and an RBI to go along with Kyle Bishop's two RBI in a 1-3 effort.

The visiting Green and Gold pushed four across in the top of the fourth. Freudenberger singled scoring Gaudette. Moments later McInnis grounded out to the pitcher scoring Ben McLain. Freudenberger scored a run of his own on a Gendreau at bat and Whitten picked up his lone RBI on a double to cap of the inning for Husson.

In the sixth, the Eagles added on three more on a triple by Kyle Bishop that scored Whitten and Gendreau and a Gaudette RBI single that plated Bishop.

Pelkey pitched a solid 6.1 innings in the winning effort, allowing just two hits and two free passes while striking out seven Terriers. Casey Estes struck out the final two Thomas batters to end the double dip.

The Eagles are slated for a day/night doubleheader with Bates on Wednesday with first pitched scheduled for 4:00pm.
