YellowJackets Defeat Ozarks, 8-6

Chris Bertram and Sean Sellers each had three hits and scored twice to lead LeTourneau to an 8-6 win over the University of Ozarks on Friday afternoon.

Ozarks (14-24) ended a scoreless tie in the third when they plated the first run of the game.

LeTourneau (26-12) got on the board in the fifth with a six-run, eight-hit effort as 11 batters came to the plate. In the inning, the YellowJackets got a two-run home run by Ryan Bertram and a pair of RBI doubles by from Sean Sellers and Chris Bertram.

Holding a 6-1 lead, in the sixth, Ozarks scored five times on four hits including a three-run home run to tie the game at 6. LeTourneau refused to let the momentum stay with the host Eagles. After back-to-back singles to start the inning, a sacrifice fly by Dillon Yates put LeTourneau back ahead 7-6.

In the bottom half of the seventh, the Eagles started the inning with back-to-back singles before reliever Jordan Price picked an Ozarks runner off second. Then, the senior got a fly out and a pop out to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard.

In the eighth, Sellers started the inning with his third hit of the game with a single. He stole second and moved to third on a Caleb Pritchett sacrifice. Bryce Henry, with one out, laid down a sacrifice to score Sellers, who was coming from third to stretch the lead to 8-6 in favor of the YellowJackets.

Despite allowing a hit in the eighth, Price got a double play in the ninth to preserve the win for the YellowJackets. The two teams will wrap up the weekend series with a doubleheader at noon.
