Toms push home win streak to 54

No. 12-ranked St. Thomas reached 30 wins on the season and pushed its home-field win streak to 54 with Monday's 14-2 home win over Northwestern-St. Paul.

Newly named MIAC Player of the Week Tyler Peterson had five RBI in the third inning with a three-run homer and a two-run double as UST sent 14 to the plate in a nine-run uprising. Peterson, who was 3-for-3 on the day, received the conference award after he went 12-for-18 with eight runs and seven RBI in a 4-0 run last week that let St. Thomas secure the MIAC title.

UST pounded 16 hits over six at-bats. Senior J.D. Dorgan hit his 19th career home run, which also was his 185th career hit. Senior Tim Kuzniar extended his hitting streak to 14 games and hit his eighth triple of the season, one off the conference record of nine held by teammate Ben Podobinski. With two hits, Podobinski reached 180 career hits in just 122 games with the Tommies.
