LOS ANGELES — Devon DeRaad went 3 for 4 and scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch, leading Oxy to a 7-5 win over Redlands at Anderson Field in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, and the second game of a three-game series with the Bulldogs this weekend.

The Tigers lost Game 1 of the series at Redlands on Friday, 12-2 in seven innings.

Oxy bounces back, improving to 11-3 overall and 9-3 in SCIAC play. Redlands falls to 9-5 and 6-5.

In the bottom of the seventh inning with the score tied, 5-5, DeRaad singled and then crossed the plate on reliever John White's wild pitch. Oxy added an insurance run in the eighth inning as designated hitter Johnathan Brook tripled and scored on a second wild pitch by White.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, batting around for a five-run second inning.

Behind starter Nolan Watson, Oxy held a 5-1 cushion until the sophomore ran into trouble in the sixth inning. Reliever Will Nahmens came on in relief, but walked home two runs that were charged to Watson, tying the game at five. Redlands scored four runs in the inning.

Nahmens would settle down, throwing two solid innings, without an earned run, for the win.

Scott Ericksen came into the game and recorded a four-out save, clinching the game.

Watson was able to get out of jams in the third and fourth innings behind inning-ending double plays by shortstop Walker Marks and second baseman Charlie Caccamo.

A.J. Libuano and Jake Chambers each went 2 for 4 for Oxy. Caccamo was 1 for 5 with a two-RBI double in the second. Marks was 1 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI-single.

Mark Tumlinson went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and Christopher Scalisi was 3 for 5 with a run scored for the Bulldogs.

Oxy and Redlands are playing the rubber match of the series at 2 p.m. at Anderson Field.
